STEPHANIE MILLER – Acupuncture Job Title: Qualifications: Fully qualified with a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture and a Licentiate in Tui Na, I am a member of both the British Acupuncture Council and the UK Register of Tui Na Chinese Massage. As a member I am required to follow strict guidelines pertaining to my practice, ethics and to ensure the highest of professional standards. Acupuncture is a tried and tested system of complementary medicine. The Chinese and other eastern cultures have been using acupuncture to restore, promote and maintain good health for thousands of years. Now days more and more people are finding that this long established therapy can offer an effective solution to all manner of today’s ills. According to Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy (Qi – pronounced chee) moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin. This flow can be disturbed in a variety of ways including emotional factors such as stress, anxiety, anger or grief, aswell as trauma, injury and infection. As an acupuncturist I will insert ultra fine needles at chosen points along these channels to stimulate the body’s own healing response to restore its natural balance. As a member of the British Acupuncture Council you are reassured that: • I have a BSc(Hons) degree in acupuncture • That I abide by the Council’s Code of Safe Practice and Code of Professional Conduct • I comply with current health and safety legislation • Am covered by full Professional Indemnity and Public/Products Liability insurance • I update my practise skills by following an individual programme of continuing professional development. Acupuncture is often used in the treatment of a variety of conditions and in conjunction with western medicine. Please feel free to ring me to discuss your condition and to see if acupuncture can be of help to you. If you would like advice or to make an appointment contact me by phone on 07951 65130 or please view my website Tui Na – Chinese massage. This is like acupuncture without the needles. Pre-dating acupuncture it is one of the earliest forms of therapeutic massage. Based on the diagnostic framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tui Na is effective at relieving a wide range of common health problems. Because Tui na massage can be very relaxing, it is particularly useful for stress related condition. Like other forms of massage it can be used preventatively, to encourage the movement of Qi (vital energy) and Blood. In most of my treatments I will use a combination of Tui Na and Acupuncture.
